Hi.
I have just pulled some design files over from our 3.18 MSM install to our newly set up Squiz hosted Matrix 4 instance, but none of the customisations will let me link (any) css files.
Are there issues with older design files and newer versions of Matrix?
Can you post the linked css design area code? That particular code has not changed in a long time and should still work.
Hi Anthony. Nothing too impressive I'm afraid:
This is in the design file, and is one of two linked css files applied in the customsation. Neither of them will let me select anything in the asset map - all options are greyed out and the "Use me" never appears. It's as if none of the usual files are of the correct type, or the customisation *thinks* that's the case.
I've tried random stuff like making everything live but it made no difference. It's weird... these design files were just copied over from a functional site running on an older version of Matrix.
It's definitely not that design area that is the issue then. The customisation is appearing for you but you aren't able to select an asset to link. What asset type are you select as the linked css? Is it the CSS design asset?
Yes, it's a CSS design asset. In desperation I also created a standard file asset and copied / pasted the css into that, and put a css extension on the file name - but no luck there either.
Could this be a configuration issue? If so I'll just lodge a support ticket.
The 'change' button for asset selection only allows for certain asset types to be selected. In that case you can only select a CSS design asset (note: not a file asset). It's not something that you are able to change configuration for. It should be working, so I would lodge a support ticket for someone to check this if it isn't.
Out of interest did you update Java recently? Might not be the issue, but best to have all the info.
Anthony… I figured it out. Please try not to laugh too heartily.
CSS file != CSS Design File.
When I use the correct asset type for the CSS files it works perfectly. In my defence, it's a distinction that doesn't exist in earlier versions of Matrix!
Yeah, I wouldn't feel too bad. You used to be able to link the files under a design I'm pretty sure. The CSS design asset proved to be alot more useful than managing static files.
