I have a standard page that contains several divs. Each div is news for that day. This standard page is displayed nest_content design area. For each div i set a future linking to link them to an old news standard page after a certain period.
If i wanted the contributors to manage this i can see how they can add a new div using the simple edit interface but i can't see how they would set the linking for the new div they have just added. I thought i could use the asset builder page but the bodycopy div isn't a choice.
What are your suggestions?
Instead of multiple bodycopies on a single page, I would've used the news item asset (or standard page, if you don't have the news item) and then used an asset listing to display the contents of each news item (using the summary or body keywords) or standard page (using the %asset_contents% keyword).
There is no way to easily expose the linking screen via the simple edit interface, and the future linking option requires the asset map, which is not available.
There is a news item asset?
We have purchased 3 modules but there is no news item asset.
The news item is in a seperate package, but you can get the same thing going with standard pages like Avi said.
As for the auto linking, you would require the triggering system from our current development version (wont be stable for quite a while) and a bit of dev work. The triggering system would allow you to specify a rule that pages created under a certain root node should have a future linking job created to move them after a specified time period.
Is the asset map what is displayed when you use the SEI to edit a Standard Page and insert a new link?
Yes, but that's the simple asset map, embedded into the Insert Link dialog box, which is unique to the WYSIWYG editor. All the other pages from the Backend (Linking, Settings, etc) require the complex asset map to be running.
So is it something that you are looking to incorporate or do you think the triggering system is the way to go?
Take a look at the "What's new" asset – it'll cut off displaying items based on a date range, so you don't need to move the old items away.
