I have the latest version of the Matrix and it is up and working. But I can't seem to get users added and the appropriate permissions. Root can add any type of asset. I have added an administrator and I can log in using that new admin however, I can view permissions even on myself let alone add assests of my own.
So I went and added a site - then gave admin rights of the new users to it… nope still didn't work.
I am a newbie… just installed this and got it working. I am thinking there is something in the setup that I am over looking. I followed everything step by step with no glitches I couldn't work through… but now I am stumped.
Thanks

Are you getting a login box that says something like "You do not have access to the Details screen of Site"?
Yes I am… whatever I attempt I get that same error with the login box saying I don't have access to the details of the "xxx".
First of all, you need to make sure your users are in a group. Then you need to go to the Security Restictions screen of the group and either grant unrestricted access or select which screens the users should have access to.
Matrix had two levels of permissions. First, the users need permission to access certain screens in the system, then they need access to edit the data. The screen restrictions stuff is a bit of a gotcha. I'm sure its documented, but probably not in the way it should be.
Regarding the Security Restrictions screen, if I want a group to only have access to standard pages, do I just select "Page Standard", or do I also need to choose "Bodycopy", "Bodycopy Div", and others?
For editing standard pages, you'll need the Edit Contents screens of both page standard and bodycopy.
For any content editing using bodycopies, always allow bodycopy Edit Contents access.
I don't have anything about different screens for different users in the Security Restrictions screen. Are you talking about Layouts and Limbo? I am using 3.2.2.
Edit: Never mind, it is in the second step of the process after you choose an asset type.
Or you can skip all the hard bits and just grant "Unrestricted Access" to that group. That just allows the group to see all the screens for assets to which they've been granted the appropriate permission.
