Hi
Setting up my brand, spanking new Google Analytics account and need to measure the success of one of my special deals booking forms. When setting up the Goals in Analytics, it asks for a unique url for the final step in the booking process i.e. the thank you page.
How do I do this because the thank you page is just a nested content div, right?
Thoughts?
Thanks
Mike
The thank you page of a form has the same URL as the form itself. The only difference is are the POST variables.
If you want a different thankyou page, you could redirect users in the thankyou bodycopy for the form, but you wouldnt be able to display any of the form data they entered.
you can nest a Redirect Asset in your 'Thank You' bodycopy. THis will redirect you to another asset, which will have a distinct URL. You won't be able to use the keywords in that case.
Thanks for that info, but it is not working. It just displays the default thank you page. I have checked the following and am still not sure what the problem is:
- The custom thank you page option has been ticked on the form contents page
- All my assets are live
- The redirect page works
The set up I have is:
- User submits form
- Redirect page nested in body copy of custom thank you page
- Redirects to a generic thank you page
Please let me know if I am missing anything or if there is some setting I should change somewhere.
Can it have anything to do with my secure pages? The form is https:// but the redirect and generic thank you pages are http:// so that I can get the users out of secure mode after they have submitted the form.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mike
You may want to try doing this a different way. Google Analytics allows you to mark each step in a form submission with a different page name (whatever you make up, like step1.html then step2.html).
They even have a help article about it:

Brilliant! Will give it a go. Thanks for your help.
