Any legal way to add custom asset

hi ,

I am working big company projecta nd they directly have matrix server from squiz developers.

They do everything legal way.

I have am building the custom asset on local sevrer but i now don't know how to transfer it to main server.

What i have done is i have my functions inside the print body to do some stuff.

and same for backend.

The company guy told me that he will submit my asset to them and they will have a look at it.

i want to know which thing the developers will look at it

and the other thing thing is i need to make frequent chnages to the aseet to test my stuff , how will i do that

If your client has the SSV, which is supported by Squiz, all patches and updates have to run through them. This is because they warranty all the code as well as support it, so if code that broke something was added, and they didn't know about it, they would not know how to fix it right away.

It is just keeping a quality product, and having standards.

If you need to make frequent updates, you will probably still have to go through Squiz, as not doing so, might void the SLA.

Hi JohnK,

This issue is being handled through Squiz and should not be discussed on the forums as it is client-specific.

You will get feedback from Squiz via your client.

One thing i need to know and please tell me if they approve it or not.

I have made custom asset from Page asset.

I am using only printBody() function

and inside that

  1. I am linking with external mysql server , getting data from there and displaying inside that printbody() function
  2. All data insertion is done in external Mysql , so nothing is linked with mysource matrix database

WIll they approve that or not

It is really up to your client to approve this. Squiz will not approve code you have created because it doesn't mean anything. We don't provide a warranty for 3rd party code so the risk is your client's risk.

If you want to contribute the code back to the core product, that is when we do a code review. But this is not an asset you are looking to contribute or something we would consider accepting given the fact it doesn't actually use Matrix functionality, so a code review is irrelevant.

If you are happy with your code and your client is happy is works, that is all that is important here.

The company has contract with squiz so don't want to void the warranty.

What is the solution now. Is there any solution which don't break warranty.

Can i use iframe in standard page and then host that part some where else.

Any solution for that

This is a discussion between your client and Squiz, not for the forums. Talk to your client please.

I was asking this question here because you people might have gone through this type of issue . so i wanted to knew what are the possible scenarios for me.

Because first client talks to squiz , then squiz takes time to answer then client gives us reply so for one question , it takes 2-3 days to get an answer.

So i was thinking of knowing all scenarios so that i can talk straight to that.

By answering this question , u guys have already saved my few days.

Just wanted to know what should i do if they don't approve

Why not using remote content page? We have customised developed system which using Matrix frontend via remote content page, all works great.

Actually i have a form which submits info using php and database. WIll that work with remote content page. or that's ONLY FOR STATIC HTML CONTENTS

Does using iFrame void warranty??

We use remote content page for the external forms. Using iframe just decreases accessibility, nothing to do with the warranty.

Thanks buddy , i will look into it. I was wondering if i would need to take permission of squiz before adding new div box

You are welcome.
Matrix is a fabulous system, it has a lot brilliant features inside so you don't need to do things out of the box.
