I need to recompile apache and am considering moving from version 1.3.33 to 2.2.3
I could take the opportunity to migrate from PHP4.4.0 to PHP4.4.4.
I haven't found direct references to this combination on the forums. I know that this is above the minimum requirements but is it too close to the bleeding edge ?
would it be better to wait for the upgrade to MySource Matrix (current version) before making the PHP change ?
would it be better to simply upgrade apache to 1.3.37 and leave apache 2.x and PHP until Matrix is upgraded ?
what is everyone's experience with this, single steps or mass migrations.
thanx.
We know that Apache 2.0.x and PHP 4.3.x work well with Matrix. I have not heard good things about Apache 2.2 or PHP 4.4.
PHP 4.4 is fine, but at least one PEAR package we used has not been updated to fix some errors on 4.4. So when emails are sent, PHP Notices are generated, but the emails are still sent correctly.
Besides that, the functionality of MySource Matrix will work fine.
The combination of Apache 2.2 and PHP4.4 with Oracle seems to segfault a LOT on the Solaris/SPARC platform, btw.
