Hi everyone,
I've got a little asset builder, which is going to be only accessible to staff, so I want it to create assets and make them Live.
I've set the Create Status to Live, and I've tried setting the Ignore Permissions to Yes and No, but either way all my assets are getting created as Under Construction.
There is a metadata schema attached to the assets, but that is live and publically readable. So what could be stopping my assets being live? If I go in and set them live manually, no problem.
I can set up a trigger… but I'd rather know why my asset builder won't play nicely.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Charlie.
Have you tested with other creation statuses?

Hi Aleks - good question!
Just tried it with create status set to 'Archived' and did create them as archived.
So its just something about live that it doesn't like…

Is the parent asset of the creation location "Live" ?

Yup - all parents all the way up the tree are live. They're not all publically readable, as site is still in build, but that shouldn't affect it should it?
C.
Public permissions shouldn't affect status changes.
What kind of user account are you testing with? Backend user?

Nope - my account, which is a Sys Admin account. I should be able to do anything, shouldn't I?! (oh the power!)
C.
You can create live assets manually in the creation location?
Do you have any Workflow configured that could disrupt this?
With great power, comes great responsibility!
Hi Charlie
I reckon that it's because you've got a required metadata field, if this is the case then the asset will not be made live until that field is filled in.
You can force the users to fill in that field by the required attributes screen on the asset builder
Hope this helps
Dave
Aleks - I was being a 100% doofus.
I'd been messing about changing metadata fields - and one of the ones I was no longer using was set to Required - so assets couldn't be set live.
Doh!
Note to self: Do proper testing before posting to forum!
thanks!
