Asset listing by metadata value

Is there any way to filter assets listed in an Asset Listing page according to metadata values? I'd like to generate several different "slices" of a set of pages depending on metadata values. There are too many to link them directly under multiple AL pages, and the maintenance effort would be high.

Have you tried asset grouping, grouped by the metadata field?

Probably need some hand holding here :). What looked promising is this comment on the AL Asset Grouping page: If the metadata schema that contains this field is not applied to an asset, it will be omitted from the asset listing



So I created a little schema with one field, applied it to just a few of the assets, created a Group Level 1: Asset Metadata on that field … and all assets got listed anyway. Hmmm. Ideas? I did remember to set Custom Grouping on the details page.

It will display all the assets you can add "%group_name%" in the group format so that grouping would be applied.
