Hello,
I have a folder with several News Items. Some of them have status 'Live', some of them 'Archived'. Then I have an asset listing page to display all News Items with status 'Live' and 'Archived' from that folder. Really basic setup. Now, under Internet Explorer v.7 and v.8, Opera 10 and Safari 4, I get a list of 'Live' assets only, while under Firefox 3.5 I get the whole list: 'Live' AND 'Archived' items. When I change my asset listing page to display only Archived items from that folder - I get nothing under IE/Opera/Safari and a proper list in Firefox.
All Archived items have a 'Read' permission granted to 'Public user'.
Am I missing something here? How should I set it up to have both types listed?
cheers,
Could be permissions? Which browser are you authenticated in?
you're right: I can see all Archived assets in Firefox only when I'm logged in using Firefox.
All assets have the same permissions level set, at least as far as I can see: Read Permission granted to Public User. Is there a global setting I'm not aware of, that makes all Archived assets not available to Public User?

OK, I've got it sorted now, by giving 'Write' permission to Public User. Now I can see both Live and Archived items. Not sure if that's the way it should be done but it's working

Archived assets really are never for the public view. They are to archive internally until you need them later. I would advise against giving the public user write permissions to anything, as this could be a major security hole.
IMHO archived assets are not for public view and just cause a huge headache. Try avoid them.

OK, so it looks like I didn't quite get the idea behind the 'Archived' status. thanks for your help.
