Asset listing to list notice links

(Robin Shi) #1

Hi guys,

I try to list out notice links for a page, those links pointing to the linked files in the page content. But the asset listing page always shows “no result”. Did I do something wrong or miss out some steps?

You made sure to look for NOTICE links in the asset listing settings, correct? Can you show us your details screen setup?

(Robin Shi) #3

Thanks Nic here it is. notice.jpg (94.6 KB)

Hmm, maybe play withe the Lookup Direction option and see if that will give you results. Also, verify that the notice links you are looking for are indeed direct links of the root node.

Hi Nic,

The notice links are in the root node’s page content, how can I tell they are indeed direct links of the root node?’ /> <img src=‘http://forums.matrix.squiz.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif’ class=‘bbc_emoticon’ alt=’

What is your asset listing listing? Page Content Assets?

(Robin Shi) #7

Hi Nic,

I am trying to find a way to list out all linked PDFs in a page in an asset listing, for example, in the page content here is several links like,
<a href="./?a=11111>pdf 1</a>
<a href="./?a=11112>pdf 2</a>
<a href="./?a=11113>pdf 3</a>
<a href="./?a=11114>pdf 4</a>
Since they are all notice link type, i hope i could set up an asset listing page to list out these PDF files.

I am not sure this is possible. I just tested it, by putting ./?a= style links into a standard page. But looking at the linking screen shows no NOTICE links to those assets. But, if you look at the assets that are being linked, and check their linking screen, you do see the NOTICE link. For some reason it does not show the NOTICE links under my standard page.

So, I am not sure if this is possible…it seems like it should be, but for me, it is not working. :frowning:

(Greg Sherwood) #9

Yeah, those asset listing links are auto-generated, so they are not created as NOTICE links.

(Nic Hubbard) #10

So, even placing those in the page contents does not seem to work the way we expected. This is expected functionality?

The notice links get created, but they only appear on the “Linking” screen of the linked asset (the linkee), not the linking screen of the linking asset (the linker).

What your trying to do is probably only possible through some hideously complicated nesting of Asset Listings, or a DB Data Source. It is fairly simple to list all assets linking to the current page however:

Thanks guys all of you! I really appreciated the help. I will have a try with nested a/l page.

I worked it out on 3.18.6, I have to say Matrix is so powerful! :P’ /> :P <img src=‘http://forums.matrix.squiz.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif’ class=‘bbc_emoticon’ alt=’:stuck_out_tongue:

Hi, I’m trawling through ld Forums posts trying to get a listing of NOTICE links off an asset. Saw this thread. What was the solution?
Thanks
