While I'm happy enough with the fact that assets in a design parse file should be referenced like "mysource_files/image_name.gif", I do have a problem with the fact that standard pages based on that design template need assets to be referenced like "./?a=123".
I'm a developer who is producing a web design and content pages for a 3rd party who are running Matrix on their server. As such I have to develop all of the pages and test them in my local environment before handing them over to the Client. This means that any reference to an asset in my content pages has to be changed manually at the time of upload to the Client's server.
Is there some way to avoid having to change all the asset links from relative addressing to the MySource linkage, regardless of if it's the client or me uploading?

The short answer is “No” – rather, you should work directly on the client’s installation of Matrix, with the assets either Under Construction or in Safe Edit. That way, the client can easily see the work in progress, you only have to create the assets once and they are still not visible to the public.
