Attaching thumbnails in asset builder

Hi all


Is there anyway to automatically attach a thumbnail to an asset generated by the asset builder?



Or perhaps, have all asset in a folder to have a certain thumbnail in their details?

Hmm… I think we need some more information on what you're trying to do.


After an asset is created using the asset builder, you can redirect the user to the simple edit/details screen for that asset, where they can then choose a thumbnail image. I'm not sure how "automatic" you consider this however :slight_smile:



If you wanted an entire folder of assets to have the same thumbnail, then it's far easier to apply the thumbnail to the parent folder, then use that thumbnail on your frontend using paint layouts.

You could also create a trigger to apply the same thumbnail to all assets created under a particular folder. But yes, paint layouts may save you the pain.

Well basically I’ve setup a folder for people to post news items. All of the news items will have the same thumbnail image.



I was hoping to make it simple for them, so each news item they most will automatically have a particular thumbnail attached.



So… paint layout?

Yeah, apply a paint layout to the news items folder. Hard-code the image into the paint layouts rather than using a thumbnail.
