Is there a way to identify broken links
Create a Links Report asset and target it to a section of a site, then generate the report (on the Details screen). You can then view the status of all links on your site.
However, your pilot server can probably not make any outbound web connections, so it'll show all external links as broken (as the server will be unable to validate any of them properly).
thank you. What does each colour / legend indicate blue /green

Those are indicating the current status of the asset (check the status legend for more information). Essentially, blue = Under Construction, green = Live. There are other status colours as well. If you click the up arrow at the bottom of the asset map, you’ll expose the status colour legend dialog.
can jobs be scheduled to run. Instead of manually "Re-generating" the report, can it be scheduled to run weekly etc.

No, reports are always generated manually, due to the amount of resources required to genereate the report.
how do i display the "link" on the frond end. below is the msg i get when i try to preview the "Links Report"
Front end component has not been generated for this report
There is no front-end component for any of the reports. Just view the Report page in the Administration Interface to see the report itself.

I would also like to be able to display the links report on the front-end - it would be great if Matrix was developed to assign a report a web path. Then I could send the link to my web authors to get them to fix all their broken links. Currently they don’t use the admin interface.
Speaking of which, what mechanisms can we use for suggestions?
I have a really small one raised by one of my web authors - the Insert Link window in IE obscures most of the OK button requiring scrolling to click OK - it would be good if a new version could have a taller window generated by the Insert Link tool. Such a small point I know - but probably very simple to implement. How would I go about suggesting it?
Sorry for getting a little off track.
Sarah

Any feature or enhancement you want to suggest can be logged on the Bug Tracker. Just mention in the description that its a feature or enhancement request and we’ll mark it accordingly.

The Links Report is only designed for Admin Interface access – all the links it creates are to other admin interface-based pages. It would require significant development to make it front-end safe (i.e. to be able to open other pages in Simple Edit mode from the Link Report).
Also, there is the consideration of security: What if you’ve got a links report for the entire site, but your authors shouldn’t see parts of it. You’d have to build viewer security checks into the report as well.
Do you know if there are any plans to include the text of the broken link in the Link report i.e. the text in between and…
This would make it a lot easier for our authors to identify the broken link - in addition to the Broken URL.
No plans yet, but that would make a great feature request (particularly if you were willing to fund it!)
While this post is back on the front page, it's worth saying that 3.14 has the ability to display reports on the frontend and schedule them to be regenerated. The links report also has other new features, which can be found in the CHANGELOG file in the Matrix download.
