Hello,
I've been playing with the comments asset and setup up an article with a comments form and showing the existing comments box, this is what I did:
Firstly I created a standard page and entered my article.
I then created an asset builder page and added a comments form.
I then created an asset listing page to list all the comments left.
I then went back to my standard page and added two nested content areas, one was for the comments form and the other for the asset listing page showing all the comments made on the article. So when I view the standard page I see the article with the comments underneath and then a comments form.
It works great but seems a of a bit long winded way of adding comments, especially if I want to do this to alot of pages, also I can't use tis method with News page as this does not seem to allow nesting content.
So two questions is there a quicker way to add a comments box and list the comments under the article and also would it be possible to add to the news page an extra tick box that says 'allow comments on this news story' which when ticked does all the above for me and
You do this with Paint Layouts. Your Asset Builder and Asset Listings should be configured with replacement creation/root nodes to the Current Asset. Then, you create a paint layout for standard pages that paints the Asset Contents, then nests the Asset Listing/Asset Builder. Then, you apply that layout to each standard page to which you comments to be enabled (or just do it from the parent and let it inherit).
