is there any way we can upload a thumbnail image in an asset builder? i tried adding %details-S_thumbnail% but it didn't work at all
You could also set up a trigger to create an image variety for uploaded images. Then, you could just use the variety for your thumbnail.
I'm trying to do something similar. I have added a trigger that creates image varieties but i would like to display one of the varieties as a thumb on the article teaser. So i use an asset listing page to display the title, summary field and thumbnail of the news asset, but the only way to change the thumbnail is from the back.
Does anyone know a way of setting the thumbnail of a news asset without having to go in the back-end?

If you have simple edit layouts for news items setup, then on the 'details' screen you can do this.
