Has anyone else investigated this?
I haven't even tried myself but it would be good to know that it can be done witht he matrix code before doing it myself.
This has been implemented on many matrix websites, it's not something that is really particular to matrix, but there are some tricks to getting the menu design areas to work (populating unordered lists, and wrapping divs etc).
For the matrix specific stuff:
- make sure you set 'show_subs' to always on the menu design areas, there's nothing worse than getting a perfectly workin menu that only shows 1 section.
- keep an eye on where you are wrapping the 'mysource_sub' design areas, you can easily misplace a tag.

If you find a nice one that allows, the first level links to be a auto width value, rather than a defined width let me know, I would be interested in taking a look. it is nice to have everything nicely without wrapping of text etc…
hmmm… I think you're going to have a hard time in IE without set width's, but I know mozilla based browser's do it quite well.
We've got some great CSS people here, I'll ask around and see if we've done anything like that before.
