Custom Form

I have a custom form that is a applicaton for public users to take on our website. Therefore, I need to grant public users write access to that form in order to be able to populate it (correct?).

However, I want the survey to be available only during a certain period. So I have Cron manager going to change it to live status on that date. In the meantime, the asset is under construction.

This form is linked off from a hyperlink on a live asset. Now since public users have access to the live form, its still reachable by them even though its under construction since they have write access.

What do I need to do to stop that?

You do not need to grant access to the public user in order for them to fill in the form. Did you test your form in a not logged in state? Give it a go and you will see what an anonymous user is able to do on the form. The form does need to be live with public read for them to be able to access it though.

Yes I ran it through IE without write access to a public user and got a blank page. Once write access was back on, the page populated. Read access is granted of course.

I agree though, I didn't think write access had anything to do with filling out a form…

Ah wait, nevermind. The problem was the status wasn't cascaded. The Form Contents was still under construction while the parent was live. My bad.

All fixed and Shane was right. Thanks.

Can you reproduce this status bug, i.e. that if you set a Form live, its contents are not made live unless cascaded? If so, please report it on the bug tracker.
