Date format for an RSS feed of standard page assets

We have a date metadata field on a series of page assets that I'd like to use as the source for the pubDate tags within an RSS feed of those assets (RFC-822 formatted), while using the metadata value within the pages in a different format


But I have a bad feeling that I can't just add a _rfc2822 to the metadata tag keyword in the type format for the RSS feed, since I've already tried a few things like that without success.



Does anyone have a way that I can create this RSS feed and get it to validate to RSS 2.0 standards ?

The date we want to associate with the item is not necessarily a matrix asset date (e.g. created, published, etc).

You should be able to do it with keyword modifiers in 3.24.x
