Within design customisations, I have an asset (standard page) that was incorrectly applied to that particular design. How do I take this asset out of this design usage area?

You need to go to the asset and change its design. You can't do this from the design asset itself. That usage screen is just a report.

Do you mean you applied the wrong design to a standard page? If so, simply 'clear' the system defined frontend design from the page's Settings screen. It should then inherit the design of its parent.
If you mean you included the wrong asset in a design customisation, like in a nested content area, you can edit the customisable area and just clear it.
