Display only the last published news item

Hi,

I am working right now to display the last published news item on specific part of standard page.

I am not very sure which keyword replacement or any other asset type to use in order to achieve this.

I couldn't find any thread do the same thing. Any idea?

Thanks

Check out the "What's New" asset. This will allow you to list based on the last published date, and you can choose to only show 1 asset which is what you are looking to do.

Thanks nnhubbard,

I was already able to create Whats new asset.

How then I can reference that resulting asset for me to display it to specific part of another page like standard page?

Once you get your What's New page working how you want, you will just need to nest that page into your other standard page. Have you used nested content before?

Nop. Is this about creating customisation of a customisation in Design manual? I am only working on a standard page, not on the design folder. Is there other way I can do this without going deeper to nest content?

You don't need to mess with designs for this. When editing the content of your standard page, click the create new icon, and chose Nest Content under Content Type. Then, once you save this, you will be able to select your Whats New page that you just created.

I am almost there. I was able to display the asset name in my standard page using the nest content (try to understand the concept). My problem right now, I want it to position in specific location of my existing div. What happen, it placed on the top or below of my existing div, depending where I triggered the new div. Can I display the asset name inside of my existing div?

You need to create some additional content areas, using the RAW HTML Content Type. Then, wrap your div tags around the nested content area. So, you will have 3 content areas, with the nested content in the middle with two raw html content areas, one before and one after. This is how you can wrap your div around the nested area.

Thanks Nic.

I got it already although I am still looking forward doing this a more easier way like using the WYSIWYG tool not going deeper to HTML tags.

cheers!!
