Div/Nested edit link disappearing

At work we are still using 3.4.1 and I am implmenting a new arm to our existing website (an intranet). I have been given pretty much an unrestricted backend user level with (I believe) certain administrator privleges.

The purpose of which I need the added level of permissions is because I want to use the nested content. The user manual does not really cover which was is the best way to achieve my outcome and thought I would ask here and detail a problem I was having along the way anyway.

Now I could be wrong here, but I dont have access to the 'parse files'?? I can only edit through the user front and back end interfaces.

I am creating certain FAQ pages and other pages related to our field of work. The pages though are made up of a number of other 'elements' to comprise the main page. The purpose of which is to allow certain people to take ownership of their own sections of work and it's all put together in a nice one page output.

I created a master FAQ page with three individual DIV areas. Each one I set to 'Nested Content' and pointed it to an existing 'standard page' I created (in turn called FAQ1, FAQ2, and FAQ3).

Question 1 Is using the standard page as the holder of the 'module' information the best way to go? Should I use another method instead, maybe something less resource intensive (if there is anything that would achieve it)

Problem 1 I did it all as described above, using standard pages and nested content and all worked fine for a moment or three, but when I went back to edit the pages that held the nested content there were no edit icons. I'm not talking about the master FAQ page, but when I go to edit the individual FAQ page the text was there, but there was no link to click to edit the WYSIWYG text. I went pake to the other pages and they were the same. There were create new DIV's above and below the text, but no edit icon. So, I created a new DIV, I commit the change and then reloaded the page in another browser window. The text was now actually gone. I looked at the resulting page source code, and the div content number was there, ie the tag was there, with a space and then the close div tag.

Am I making any sence?

It didn't matter what I tried to edit, I could not get to edit the text directly. I have subsequently started to recreate those pages and havent yet finished (to see if it would happen again).

Does anyone have an idea what could be going on?

One hint that may have caused the issue. I was using a table in the sub pages and when I edited the table I didnt want to add the ID field, so I cancelled out of it without adding it. I also did edit the HTML directly (through the '<>' button) and made some manual changes to the table to include customisation (such as cell width and the like).

I dont THINK I made a mistake i there, like I said, it initially worked and I could edit it, but later on I couldn't.

This message is long enough. Back to you guys
