Is there a way to create an asset listing and be able to download it as a csv file for use in Excel?
Yes, but you'll need to:
[list=1]
[*]Format the Default Format appropriately with commas and a new line character
[*]Set the webpath to something.csv
[*](optionally) Create and set a design to serve the asset as a filetype "text/csv"
Ven, I'm trying to do something very similar and am failing horribly. Have you had any luck?
Did you create a special design, and apply it to that asset listing? Something like the following should be all you ned in your design parse:
Yes I did - thanks Nic. I've sorted it out earlier this afternoon. Matrix was producing txt content type which I fixed and now works well.
EDIT: Do you know which manual has all the content_type="x" possibilities?

The “content_type” field will accept any valid MIME type, so there is not a particular list.
Please refer to this IANA page for valid types.
Thanks for the answer Mark.
No problem Duncan.
Hello
This has been really useful to me today - just one question left. What should I use to insert a new line character in a Raw HTML asset so my csv formats correctly?
Cheers…
Make sure your asset builder is producing raw html and simply hit enter to create the break.
%asset_name%, %asset_created_short%
Would create:
Page1, 2009-02-01
Page2, 2009-02-01
Page3, 2009-02-02

I havent had any issues reported with recent versions, so I think it does do the right thing, but if you have issues this could be the reason.
It works fine in 3.18.8 and 3.20.2 in case that helps…
Thanks! Got around it by putting each keyword in "" then didn't need to create a line break.
"%keyword%","%keyword%","%keyword%"
Does that not add " around your data? Glad you got it to work!
It is interesting that a line break is not required when double-quoted - I like to look at rows personally
- however I do know that adding these is fine as it prevents values containing commas from being interpreted as adjacent cells. These outer quotes are stripped when displayed in a spreadsheet.
Did not know that! :)

There are a lot of possible formats...
