I always work with two monitors when building a site. In the past we have always used dreamweaver, so I am used to have multiple windows open on each monitor. Is it a problem to have Matrix open and logged into the admin interface in two different browser windows? It seems to work ok at least doing a small test. It would just be so much easier if it is ok to work like this. Then I can have my CSS file open on one window, and be working in my parse file in another, or previewing my site.
Does anyone else work like this? I just didn't want to work this way if it would somehow confuse Matrix to be doing work in two separate windows.
It is fine to work like this, and I do so myself sometimes.
In fact, Matrix has some features built in to help. The preview screen offers to open the preview in a new window, prompting you to have a frontend and backend screen open. You can also double-click on the asset map tabs (down the left side) to undock the asset map and move it to another window, or resize it.
The only issue that I have found from working on a multiple-monitor setup (as opposed to just a multiple-window setup) is that sometimes the menus and confirmation messages from the asset map appear on the other (primary?) monitor. This appears to be a Java issue however, rather than anything to do with Matrix itself. Other than that, working in multiple windows/monitors is fine.
