Is there any way to dynamically display file information / keywords (short name linked, file size readable, last updated readable etc.) on a page without using an asset listing?
We do have asset listings setup for certain (stable) folders of files and images however our authors, who only go via simple edit, want a way to display this sort of file information when creating a link to a file such as a PDF document, in the middle of their page and we can't rely on them doing it manually - i.e. finding out the file size themselves and typing it on the page. Nor will they present the informaiton consistently.
We though we could develop a new div type - similar to the image div type - but wanted to check what else we could do before undertaking this development.
Thanks
The latest version of Matrix will allow you to use keywords for this, with an asset ID specifier, e.g. %asset_filesize_readable:1234% will paint the value of that keyword for Asset 1234. I believe this was added into 3.16.1 or 3.16.2.
Isn't it %globals_asset_filesize_readable:1234% ?
Yes, probably. :) I was at home with my fresh copy of Leopard and no version of Matrix handy when I posted.
Oh you lucky man. I am still waiting to buy mine of amazon.com for the cheaper price. Do you guys use amazon.com there in AU?
We do, but it takes a while to ship here. I paid A$250 for a Family Pack, its pretty reasonable. :)
Matrix runs faster on leopard! aaaaarrr!!!!!!! yes!!!’ /> <img src=‘http://forums.matrix.squiz.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif’ class=‘bbc_emoticon’ alt='![]()
no no just kidding… same same. </end rant>
Well, PostgreSQL, Apache and PHP compile easier now that Leopard is UNIX certified. :D
Mmmmmm, yes Leopard is just wonderful.......I am very happy with it, it runs like a dream on my 17 " Mac Book Pro :)
Have Fun,
Anthony
Can someone point me to which manual these keywords are documented in please?
%globals_asset_filesize_readable:1234% works but %asset_updated_readabledate:1775% spits out:
Thu, 01 Nov 2007 15:07:11 +0900epm01pmbThursdaye01pm30e:1775.
%asset_short_name_linked:1775% isn't working either.
Thanks,
Sarah

It's ok - got it… just add 'globals' to the beginning of the keyword. %globals_asset_short_name_linked% doesn't work though.
