It did not used to be possible to edit page contents of Asset Listing and What's new assets from simple edit.
Has this changed in recent versions?
It's not something that's possible 'out of the box', because of the complexity involved in those particular assets it requires more than just editing a screen or 2 (multiple bodycopies need to be edited to configure a listing).
However, in saying that, I think it might be technically achieveable using EES, but it would be quite a chunk of effort even testing to see if everything worked (proof of concept). I'd question the benefit of actually trying, usually those that edit asset listings have training and/or experience and are familiar with the backend.
