For some reasons, one of our colleagues continue experience the error when initialising the admin interface. Any light shed on this issue will be appreciated.

Which browser are they using?

I've usually see this happen when the xml that the asset map loads is malformed in some way. There's a few reasons that could happen, I have only ever seen it personally when network traffic on a client system was interfering with the content the map is trying to fetch. This is usually marked by inconsistency of the appearance of the error though.
Considering you are listed as a client in the forums it may be best to contact Squiz Support and troubleshoot the issue. The only thing I can think of to investigate in the mean time is to packet sniff the request from java to matrix and check the xml formatting manually, or via xml validation tools. This can be a very difficult thing to do, but could highlight a problem asset.

Myself & some colleagues are experiencing this as well. This has happened to me in every browser that I use.
The error alternates between the one listed above & also:
asset_map_dialog_title_init_failed
error while parsing: The markup in the document preceding the root element must be well formed.
We are on V3.24.2
Browsers used are: Firefox3.5.5 , IE7, Chrome 3, Safari 4.
JRE 1.6.0_17
Any ideas/help are much appreciated.
