In the Asset Listing Manual (v3.18c), an example is provided in how to set up a structured root selector using PDFs sorted into folders (pp. 49-51).
This works really well, but there is nothing in the example that explains how (if even possible) to sort the folders so that they appear alphabetically in the dropdown menu (p.51).
Is there some default sorting option? If so I have not been able to determine what this default setting is. It doesn't sort them by name, nor by asset ID, nor by the order in which the folders are arranged under the root folder, nor by the creation date of the folder.
Is there some way to control the order in which the folders are listed?

Hi Pedro,
The Structured Root Selector is shown in Asset Map order from the root node, as verified on a local 3.18.12 system.
These entries cannot be sorted within the Asset Listing, however the Asset Sorting Tool may be used to manipulate the asset map order.

I can definitely verify that in 3.18.9, the Structured Root Selector is not shown in Asset Map order from the root node. Therefore using the Asset Sorting Tool to manipulate the asset map order makes no difference. The folders are already in the order that I want them to display in.
Further investigation has discovered that the assets are listed by tree ID instead of Asset Map order. I am sorry for the misunderstanding.
If the assets created have never been moved, then the tree ID order will be the same as the Asset Map order. However, moving assets within the same tree level in Matrix only modifies a "sort order" item but retains the tree ID. This means that the Structured Root Selector may not necessarily be representative of the order in the Asset Map.
As this doesn't provide a consistent experience, please lodge this as a Bug Report so we can add a short sorting routine to this code, so it is indicative of the Asset Map order. Then as mentioned previously, the Asset Sorting Tool could be used to further modify the Asset Map in order to control the display of this drop-down list.
Hi,
Just to finish this topic, this issue was added to the bug tracker and was completed for 3.20 onwards.
Squiz support just patched my 3.18 system with the fix yesterday.
