Is there any way of obtaining a Design Example for SSV clients that includes a Search Module working?
The searchbox design area relies on a properly configured Search Page asset to work -- thus an example design will not work on import without proper configuration and customisation. You're better off contact Squiz Support and asking us to configure an example design area on your system for you.

Is there a way I can exclude a folder and its contents from the search?
Yes -- the Search Manager asset allows you to configure particular tree locations to be excluded from the index. You will need to reindex that location (counter-intuitively, I guess) once you've setup the exclusion so that it is removed from the index.

I tried to exclude some things in the folder but it doesn't seem to of worked.
This is what i did:
Went into the 'Asset Weights' and added the two folders I want to exclude from the search.
Turned the Enable Indexing to OFF.
I unticked all the 'Indexed?' boxes, and tried to change the Weighting to 0 but it keeps going to 1.
Re-indexed the site and it is still searching the two folders.
Am i supposed to turn the 'Enable Indexing' to on?

The "Asset Weights" screen is to remove single assets from the index. To remove an entire hierarchy, you need to add it on the "Asset Tree Weights" screen.
Further, when you do that (as Asset Tree Weights has the same interface), you need only untick the [i]Indexed?[/i] check-boxes to stop them - the [i]Weighting[/i] field won't have any effect once you do.
You will need to re-index your folders (and you only need to reindex those folders you don't want indexed) before this will take effect in a Search Page, though.
