I'm sure there must be an obvious way to do this but I can't find it!
If I know an asset's ID I can search for it using the Quick Search, but how do I find out WHERE it actually is? (where in the tree structure…)

Once you find the asset, switch to the "Linking" screen in the drop-down menu. It'll then show you the path(es) to that asset.
In the next version of Matrix, there will be a simple one-click solution that will automatically expand the asset map for you.
