Friendly Date

If i create a metadata schema so i can show the updated date in a particular format i choose the asset updated date as the default value. Is there a way for me to initialy go in and set this date to something i want and then the next time the asset is updated it uses the new date??

I tried this but if i left the updated date in the drop down box it used that instead as it was newer than the date i chose. If i take the updated date form the drop-down box and then update the document it keeps the one i chose manually.

I would like to show the original updated date of the document not the new date (date added to mysource).

The date field uses one or the other and not both options. If you have a keyword selected in the drop-down (updated for example), the date field will always show the last updated date of the asset being displayed.

If you do not select a keyword and leave the drop-down empty, the date configured using the other drop-downs/text-boxes will be displayed.

If you have selected a keyword, the main drop-down/text-boxes display the current value of that keyword as an aid to show you the current date value and to help you override default values (if required).

You cant mix and match these or get one to stop being used based on some condition.

It sounds as if you want to set the first updated date for an asset in the metadata field. You may want to consider using the published date as you can configure this manually on the settings screen of an asset and it gets updated less often (only when an asset's status changes to live from another status).
