Friendly url link

Hi, I am on v3.26.1 and have a paint layout applied to a news item asset. Links from the asset pointing to pdf files are not showing the full path and also show the asset id rather than the name of the pdf file. i.e. www.mysite/news/latest/./?a=345

Any suggestions?

It seems to me that the PDFs are children assets of the news items and you are using the default format. Try "Custom Asset Types" to "news items" and see how it's going.

I have news items as custom asset types under layout settings of the paint layout

I tested by inserting the link in the summary and body but cannot replicate the problem. where did you insert the link to the PDF?

within the body

Last try before I give up,

Are you sure the asset "345" exists? [quote] i.e. www.mysite/news/latest/./?a=345

If it does, I cannot work it out as I cannot replicate the problem in our system.

Yes it does exist, have tried adding the pdf via the backend & the simple edit interface, and get the same result

check if the PDFs have their own web paths.

yes they do __data/assets/pdf_file/0018/1593/March-2010-PMI.pdf

The WYSIWYG attribute of the news items aren't bodycopies, so these links don't get replaced.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you use %globals_asset_url:345% ?

Just FYI Dan, the paintlayout is being used

Ahh…not really, it's a solution but not a viable one because 1. a lot of manually changing the links & 2. the clients sys admin will be responsible for adding the keyword to all the links.
