Get metadata value from the key

I’m wondering if it is possible to get the “value” of a metadata field when you know the key?

To explain more I have a search page, whose get value is the “key” of a metadata filed.

I am wanting to display additional information in a position format using the “value” of the metadata field used in the query.

%keyword_query_terms^striphtml%, doesn’t seem to be available in the position format, and %asset_metadata_value% returns metadata from the current asset which can be more than what is required.

I’ve tried a number of options but none of them work.

Any ideas?

Have you tried doing something like:

%begin_globals_get_foo%
  %asset_metadata_something_extra%
%end_globals%
