I've got this new community based site built on mysource. It's really taken off overnight but already I've had to ban three proper trolls. Now it seems like one guy is persistent of note, re-registering with a new email address every time he gets banned. So, I want to ban his IP addres (s). Is there a way to extract IP data on comments and or user accounts like the way it's done with form submissions?

Sure, just just use %globals_server_REMOTE_ADDR% to grab the remote IP address.
You will have to make a way to include this in the comment assets, like a hidden metadata field in the asset builder.
