Hi All,
I work for the University of WA and we use MySource Matrix.
I was wondering if anyone knows whether there may be anything in the pipeline to integrate Squiz with Google Analytics API simliar to this here

I look forward to your responses.
Kind regards,

There is something potentially in the pipeline. We were previously looking at using web statistics from the Piwik API to create smart asset listings (like "top 10 most hit"). However, since Google have created an API for this, I'd probably suggest integrating with them first (simply because a lot more people are already using Google Analytics).
I'll get Justin Cormack to comment, since he was the one pursuing it…

Yes, as Daniel says we are looking at doing some integration, initially around pulling in most popular pages. We do not have a timetable right now, but if you have specific requirements we could discuss these.
Hi guys,
At this stage no specifc requirements, just wanted to see if you were across the API release and whether you had any plans to incorporate.
One of the keys things we find is that our users are often just putting up content and editing without any thought to its use. Integration with analytics would be a great way to show them where their efforts are worth it and where they are not.
Will watch with interest to see what evolves.
I would be interested to see what comes out of this. For HTML pages we can already incorporate some javascript that works with Google Analytics so the first thing I think of re: integrating Google Analytics with Matrix through the API is enabling the tracking of non-HTML files such as PDF's.
Pretty sure that the API works the other way around. You can pull data from Google Analytics back into Matrix. So, if you had a standard page, you could check the "Data" screen or whatever, and see data about that page, all brought from Google.
I really like the sound of matrix using the Piwik API, I would think many clients do not send all their intranet page data to google, and Piwik seems to be the leading open source alternative to google. I think urchin shares the same API as google analytics, so that may be useful if anyone uses that.
How many people out there are using piwik? It's much simpler to just use google analytics, but piwik seems pretty good, although we have not used it in production or given it a serious amount of data yet
Never heard of Piwik but thanks for the link, we may start using it on our intranet; been looking for a solution for that for awhile!
Hi Squiz,
Do you have any further updates regarding this thread.
Have you had a chance to look at the codebase from http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/analytics360/.
I have played around with it, it would give you a great starting point for intergrating GA into Squiz.
I look forward to your response.
Kind regards,
