I need some light on how to go about the following situation. I have a folder which contains sub folders with news item. Each sub folder is a category of news items. I want to create an asset listing page, listing all news items grouping them automatically according to their parent folder. Any idea on how to go about it?
Use an asset listing. Set the root node to the top-level folder, and set it to list news items. Set the list format to Custom Grouping on the Details screen of the asset listing. Go to the Grouping screen of the asset listing and create a new group based on folder parent assets.
You'll still need to configure all the group and type formats as well.
Once you've done all that, your news items will be listed and grouped together by Category.
Thanks for your help. I managed to do it. now i would like to list the categories in two columns. is this possible?
Yes, on the "Column Layout" screen you can tell Matrix to format the listing into two columns.
Thanks. I managed to get the items in 2 coulums, however i want to have two groups listed next two each other, with 1 coulmn per group…
That's more difficult to achieve. You would have to build the table manually using Raw HTML in the Group and Type Format bodycopies.
