Just thought I'd let you all (Matrix developers) know I had zero problems installing MySource Matrix.
I downloaded 3.1.0 RC1 and the web installer.
It is currently installed on a Windows 2000 Professional pc with Apache 2.0.50 and MySql 4.0.20.
I get the XML parser error, but I used the newest package for PEAR.
Other than that, the install went off without a hitch!
Excellent product, and excellent web installer!!
Hooray! Finally someone who was able to install it
Hey, I've always managed to install it.
But it is nice to hear that someone out in userland can do it too.
Attempting to install on e-smith (SME) 6.0, …stuck at step 3, error message is: Could not find the directory specified /opt/matrix
I think Apache Alias is correct as i am able to call up index.php in a browser window.
…tried running php install/step_01.php but the system does not seem to recognize the "php install" command, unless "install" is referring to the directory?
Have verified PHP is (CLI) version 4.3.6 (also verified and/or loaded the remaining list of system requirements).
Any help greatly appreciated - thanks in advance.
Yes, install refers to the directory. You have to run the command from the root directory of the matrix install.
Hello everybody,
I have a couple of questions: (actually 3
)
1- I have Win XP running in my PC and I have a web site hosted somewhere that is running on Linux. Can I install matrix from remote to that hosted site. ( The site has all the prerequisits PHP, MySQl, Apache versionetc…
2- If so how?
3- Why there is not a good documentation support? (PS: I checked previous versions documentations as well "for my source" and it is same) ?
I will be thankful for any hint or a link that would take me to a good resource so I can complete the installation.
Thanks
Nizam Yigit

- Yes, as long as you drop the files onto the server you can access the installer from the web. Your better off having access to the server though to fix any permission errors you might encounter and to create the database if it doesnt already exist.

- We have a fair bit of documentation on the web site. Note that the MySource 2 documentation does not relate to MySource Matrix in any way.
Downloadable PDF documents can be found at: http://matrix.squiz.net/download/documentation
Installer documentation can be found at: http://matrix.squiz.net/download/documentation
and is linked to throughout the installer.
There is also some pretty good information throughout this forum to help out with the most common problems while we compile our additional support documents.
What documentation are you after exactly that you cant find?
Ok guys…
I have a good news…or a half good news… (or you can say one good news and one bad news)
So I will tell the good news first.
I completed the installation… I mean at the end it said matrix succesfully installed and thank you etc.
The bad news is when I clicked to log into admin,
there was nothing.
Whole evening I was busy changing thins or trying things. I learned how to do…(deserving a Nobel CS Price…hahaha…
How could I get the admin appear?
Thanks for your responses as welll.
Do you get any error messages?
