Installing squiz matrix

(Maheshvarma M) #1

Hi,

I am new to squiz matrix. I want to setup squiz matrix on windows 7.

I have downloaded the squiz matrix but i am not able to execute the vmx file. could you please suggest any manual or web page which i can refer for installing squiz matrix?

There is a quick start guide here: http://matrix.squizsuite.net/quick-start-guide/

Basically, you need to install VMWare Player and then follow the steps in that guide.

Hi
I'm new to Squiz as well, I followed the quick start guide closely, but couldn't log in to admin interface with username root and password root. Has anyone got any idea why? Thanks

Hi there,

Is this the VM version or have you set it up on a server? Are you getting a specific error? More detail could help.

Cheers

Hi,
Recently I install VMware* player and CMS,its all works fine, but I needed to install Matrix as well.

After login in (root/squiz) in VM, the next line appears:

LAST LOGIN:…from 192.168.14.150

[root@matrixdemo ]#

when I enter command: "ifconfig eth0", I do not get internet address, but only:

int6 addr:fe80::20c:29ff:fe6f:400b64

I was trying to save 192.168.14.150 in "host" file, but still can not access

http://matrixdemo.squiz.net/_admin

Could you help me please.

Without looking at your computer set up, I am only guessing here, but there are a couple of possibilities you can try:

  1. ifconfig (without the eth0) and see if the network started on another device like eth1.
  2. Try changing from bridged to nat and restarting the vm. Do you get an IP address now? If so, there would be something wrong with your vmplayer/computer setup that is stopping the bridged network in vm player from working. It is fine to leave it on this for evaluation purposes, but if you need to access that vm from another computer, it will not work without some network magic.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you,
  3. I only getting "lo"-local IP, which doesn't work.
  4. the same result.

I tried to delete both CMS and Matrix from VM disc and installed Matrix again. While loading I noticed that "Determine IP address for eth0" returns "failed".

After repeating your suggested solutions, I am getting the same result.

    What else can I do?

    Thank you

PS. I just tried to reinstall CMS back, and I am getting the same response for eth0 (for CMS). interesting because, b4 installing Matrix, the CMS worked great.

Does it mean that I need to reinstall VM?

Did you add the ip address and host name in your computer’s host file or the vm?

The correct format of the entry is:

    192.168.172.1 matrixdemo.squiz.net

my main OS in Windows 7. i have ubuntu as virtual OS. as i ran the squiz matrix in virtual machine, i typed ifconfig eth0 and the inet addr i observed was 10.0.2.15. this value i entered in the host file of windows 7… 10.0.2.15 matrixdemo.squiz.net

Hi Daniel,

It sounds like your network settings in Virtual Box might be the issue. Can you set it to use Bridged Network or NAT.

You'll need to either restart the VM or the networking service (/etc/init.d/networking restart)

You should then get a 192.168 address which you can set in your hosts file.
