Java Asset Map Alternative?

I’m having a problem with the Asset map despite having the minimum required JVM. This got me thinking though, is there a comprehensive description of the API that the Asset Map applet talks to on the server?

For those in my position running a gecko based browser a XUL based Asset Map might be a good alternative.

There is no document about the java communication API in matrix. You have to view the source to determine how this is done at the moment. We use mozilla firefox on gentoo linux for development here, so "those in my position running a gecko based browser" include us.

Heh. Don't I look stupid…

Marc McIntyre, stop beating up on the community!!

If you really feel inclined to create an XUL based asset map, then be my guest. Pitty for those using IE, because they will have to wait for someone to be port it to XAML

I have no pity for those using IE. They deserve everything they get…

But you're right.

I'd heard a rumor about an ActiveX plugin for the Mozilla Gecko XUL engine.

http://www.bindows.net/

Hmm… Very cool.

Can't see it getting wide usage in the FOSS community with that licence model though.

Nah, not much chance, but it’s a cool concept. Another one is http://thinlet.sourceforge.net/ which coupled with http://thinlet.sourceforge.net/ is pretty interesting too

I've seen these before. Stumbled across Theodore about 6 months ago. Never been a big fan of WYSIWYG editors and Theodore seems to be lacking some important widgets (or I just couldn't find them). Good demo of what can be done with Thinlets though.
