Hi all,
Am looking at displaying the last published date field on each page of my website ie at the bottom of the page putting "Last updated <published_date>".
In our testing we have implemented workflow which means that any edit needs to go through the safe edit process. This updates the publish date when the asset goes live and I'm pretty happy with that behaviour (although small updates such as a quick spelling mistake change etc we will have to manually put the publish date back to what it was).
The thing that doesnt make much sense is when something goes up for its mandatory 2 year review:
- We put the asset into "Up for review" status
- It goes into workflow and the reviewer thinks its fine as is and can stay up for another 2 years without changes.
- We set the item back to "Live" status
- The Published Date is changed to todays date!
Why? I havent republished it. There have been no alterations at all. But the date at the bottom of the page has changed.
I guess "published date" is really "last time the assets status changed to "live" no matter what status it was before it went live" but it bears no resemblance to a "published date" in any way.
I assume my only options are:
- Dont use the "Up for review" status for our review processes
OR
- Change the text at the bottom of the page to say "Last reviewed/updated on <published_date>"
Are there any other options? Are there any options that might work using metadata and triggers instead?
Thanks,
Steve.
