I have 'Link' moved an asset so that it appears in several places in the website. It has many sub pages. I can't reorder the subpages, and yet, I want to. I know that some buddhist philosophy might help me come to terms with my desire/fulfillment imbalance, and yet, i still want to.
Is there a trick to dealing with these 'link' assets? It is a standard page with a dozen or so sub pages, one of which has a dozen or so sub pages. I'd like to reorder the children.

Is there a warning when you try reordering them? Have you tried the asset sorting tool?
There is a warning: next to the little spinny thing at the bottom of the asset tree it says "success!". Honestly I spent half an hour trying to do this yesterday and it just wouldn't do it.
Yeah I've tried the asset sort tool, it is very nice, but in this case I want to shuffle them around on a whim. Not my whim, you understand, I am under direction here.
It appears to be working now, so, forget me. I am at peace with the universe. OMMMmmmmmmm
Anyway, is the new Indiana Jones movie set in the 40s? Shouldn't it be set in the 60s or something? Harry is looking kind of mid 60s, retirement age you know.
My friend tells me it's set in the late 50s. Excellent. I can move on with my life now.
Oh, it's not working again. Let's log out. close the browser. Open another browser. Log in. Does it work now? I think so.

You should just be able to click the Icon next to the asset you want to move to get a targetting line. Then, put the line where you want the asset to appear and left-click. Matrix should reorder the assets appropriately. Keep in mind that you can't have different ordering of children for the linked asset, as the children are not independently linked.
Thanks Avi, I've been doing it for about a year or so now. Really, it just wasn't working. I was a bit confused as I have only started using the 'link' page this week. If logging out and in again gives it a jolt to make it work then that is a workaround that is less frustrating than repetition to no avail.
Thanks for all your help my faithful friends,
enjoy.
How odd. Did you strike it vigorously with a large, weighted, blunt implement? I find that helps. :P
