Hi,
I'm trying to create useful / related links on the right side of page. The useful link can be anywhere on the site depending how useful and relevant it is to the current document.
So far I've not been very successful in achieving this with the following; Related Asset Listing, Thesaurus and Tag Listing Page.
The closes I got was by following Tag Listing Page manual and managed to list the tags without a problem but can't get my head around making these tags link to the related pages.
Any direction/tip appreciated.
On our site, we have pages covering vast amount of topics. Editors can add related documents to these topics, and do so by creating them as a child of the page for that topic. The site navigation only lists other pages and not documents in our case. To list these “Related documents”, we have nested an Asset Listing Page in our Design that gets a Dynamic Root Node from the current asset ID (ie. so it shows the children documents of the page that is being viewed). This is a simple approach, but it may give you some ideas.
Also, have you seen the Displaying semantically related content with (stored) search pages article on the Community site? This allows you to tag items with similar terms to relate them, rather than relying on a parent<->child relation as we do.
I have yet to explore all the other asset types in detail, such as the ones you mentioned (Related Asset Listing, Thesaurus and Tag Listing Page), so someone else may be able to better help you.
tbaatar,
I wanted to apply "Displaying semantically related content with (stored) search pages" on my Site, but with no success. I cannot understand this article. If You can - please let me know how it works
Chris Burke,
Thanks for the reply. The semantically related page tutorial looks like what I'm trying to achieve.
UAM,
I will let you know how I get on when I try it out.
