Logs and Rotation

(Keith Brown) #1

Hi  Folks,

I know that the manual says

"Log File Rotation

The log files for the system can be found in the directory /data/private/logs. These logs are rotated once every 24 hours. When the log is first created, it is given the name <logname>.1. The next day, the new log is rotated to <logname>.2, and so on until <logname>.10 is reached. The rotation index is then set back to one, and the existing file with name <logname>.1 is overwritten and the cycle continues."

But it appears  our logs stopped rotating back in November and are now huge (like 60GB+ in total huge).  Is there something I need to poke to get this started again?

Is you cron manager running?

There is a job under cron manager, Generate Log Reports Cron Job, which does the log rotation.

If the cron manager (cron tab) isn't set then that's the issue here.

But if the cron manager is running at regular intervals then something else might be needed to look into [but step at a time ;)].
