Hi all
Curently about 80% of our mac users are having trouble loading up or login into the current version of 3.20.6 version in firefox browser only
Mac software version 10.5.7
Java versions - J2SE 5.0 (32 bit), Java SE 6 (64 bit), J2SE 5.0 (64 bit), J2SE 1.4.2 (32 bit)
Firefox version - 3.0.3
This is a very strange occurrence as we never had this issue before with the older version of 3.12.2 series with firefox browsers, anyone else out there have come occur this issue if so what type of resolution was taken to fix this?
Cheers
Does Safari work? I know we recently updated Firefox and are also having problems. One thing I thought it might be is the new web developer toolbar / firebug. When I uninstall them the asset map expands perfectly.
I always use Safari on the Mac for Matrix. The only time I switch to Firefox is when I need to use Firebug.
Do you get tiny text when editing a parse file like I do on Safari?
Yes, it drives me insane. I am always having to zoom in and out. And, I use RAW HTML everywhere on our site, so all textarea boxes are small text! It just changed with Safari 4 for me.
We're not using Mac's but we do use Firefox, and one of us is having problems with the Asset Map when they go to insert images using the WYSIWYG.
From a quick look over their shoulder - it looks like the Asset Map starts to form and then fails. They get a Trash folder icon but nothing else.
Douglas, that's the same Firefox issue. We have the same thing. We use Safari to sort it out. Also, we get the right click contextual menu on the asset tree hidden until rollover which is incredibly frustrating in Firefox Mac. But only on something similar to:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.0.12) Gecko/2009070609 Firefox/3.0.12
Older Firefox works fine. And new Firefox on older Macs works fine too.
Hasn't changed on Safari 4 for me. Still tiny.
copy paste and parse file code into Coda then copy paste back after you do your changes
It's not a problem increasing text size really. For general problems: Safari small text < Firefox Asset Tree Issues.
Yeh i know the issues, we all have to deal with them. Even the squiz developers.
Just a small price to pay to play with dynamic root nodes.
I was meaning that it started happening in Safari 4, it was fine before that version.
Oh I see, I did that 500MB upgrade to get Safari 4. Safari 3.2.1 also has the small text issue. It would be cool if Safari had Greecemonkey as I rate we could knock up a quick script to up the text size pretty easily.
We're a windows shop (sigh), using Safari isn't going to be an option for many of our users. IIRC, the problem was with a machine running Firefox 3.5. From the sounds of things it might be an extension issue, so I'm going to do some investigation there.
I guess you've tried to uninstall Java runtime, Firefox and start again? I think the extensions can really cause issues with rendering of Java correctly.
I would hope we wouldn't have to reinstall Java. Thinking about supporting distributed authors whose desktop environments we have little control over is beginning to cause me increasing concern.
In any case, it's not just Firefox. I got the afflicted user to test last night using Internet Explorer.
1) When they login to the backend, the asset map loads as normal and works fine.
2) When they edit a content div using the WYSIWYG editor, and insert an image, the insert image window asset map fails to load. Refreshing (via the asset map refresh icon) sometimes works.
When I have a few more moments I will investigate the version of the JRE that is installed on that user's machine, and compare versions of IE, Firefox etc.
Yes of course!
