Hi everyone,
I am working on building a MySource Matrix Community Server, and I would like your help. If everyone here could give me some ideas as to what you would like to see there it would be great. This will be a work that the Matrix community as a whole can work on, so everyone can help.
First up, there will be a number of demos of different Matrix functionality. These will be demos built by me and other users like yourself that have been given permissions to build in the "demos" section. These demos will just have read access for the general demo users so that they can be looked at as a guide for how to build this functionality on their own. We don't want these to be deleted.
Second, there will be a testing area. This is where the demo users can build what ever they want. They can try out different assets, build some demos of their own and just explore all that Matrix has to offer.
If anyone has any suggestions on what demos we should offer, or would like to volunteer your help I would be very appreciative! All ideas are welcome as we try to get more and more users to Matrix. Hopefully, letting them play around with a demo of Matrix first, without having to do an install to test it, will bring even more users to this awesome CMS!
I guess it would be best to start with the really basics. An asset listing and and an asset builder. I think the key is to show Matrix recreate design trends if you know what I mean: everyone wants a comment section, tag cloud, most read articles and that kind of thing. Then move onto metadata and simple edit interfaces…
Cool idea.
I dig for Installation section and Website showcase section of all the best Matrix websites.
For demo section, we take popular part of a certain website and build it in matrix.
I think the MySource Matrix design gallery would be pretty interesting. Compile a list of sites that are using the system and so on.
Yes, I really like this idea as well...
Cool. Should be fun.
I’ve been working on a very simular idea, mysourceusers.com.
This site is made to showcase some of the best MySource Matrix tutorials around. All articles, tutorials, tips and tricks are written by MySource Matrix implementation specialists.
We aim to provide a community where you can access, leverage and contribute valuable information and knowledge at any time.
We hope that this site will help our readers learn a few tricks, techniques and tips that they might not have seen before inspiring users of all skill levels and helping to grow the MySource Matrix user community.
I’d love to have more experienced users contribute to the site and happy to arrange access to assist in publishing and comment moderation (please don’t hesitate to contact me directly). We are currently working on a number of tutorials for all levels (basic through to advanced). It’s all really exciting and finally time we got the MySource Matrix community more established.
That's pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing what you guys can produce!
Hi everyone,
We are currently looking for demo suggestions. What kind of Matrix demos would you like to see? Anything tough that you have wondered how to build? Anything with ajax? Asset builders?
We appreciate your ideas!
I haven't looked at all this Google Maps stuff… also the ecommerce module is very mysterious, would love a demo on that! Or are we staying with non-SSV stuff?
EDIT: Also LDAP integration!

Sadly, we have to use the GPL version, as that is what is free to most users.
The E-Commerce module went GPL last year so it should be possible to set up a demo which includes a Payment Gateway in "Test Mode".
Once I get my arse back into gear, I will attempt to finish my ecommerce demo
Yay, that would be most helpful. :)
Alex, would you be interested in building that on the community server? I'm sure Nic has already asked, but in case he hasn't…
Yep, I did. :)
Yes he did… and yes I will
Awesome.
