MySource Matrix on your Desktop

A quick plug:

I’ve updated the Virtual Machine which lets you run MySource Matrix on your desktop to version 3.22. Excluding downloads, this should have you up and running with your own installation of Matrix in under 10 minutes.

Comments/feedback appreciated

Nice work! This is very good news for those who are frustrated with a difficult installation.

Just a point of clarification. What is the main purpose of this procedure?

Is it meant just for someone who wants to demo Matrix on their computer at home?

and / or, Is it meant as a super easy install for people who want run Matrix from their computer at home?

and / or Can it be used to install matrix easily on a hosted VPS?

Thanks in advance.

Yes to the first two questions (although you could obviously also run it at work), as well as it being a sandbox for people who want an area to play/break things in.

This won’t help you on a VPS, because first they wouldn’t be running the VirtualBox software that the VM requires, and second, they probably wouldn’t let you upload an entire VM anyway. If you want to install Matrix on a hosted VPS, Nic has already written a great guide for that:

Thanks for the clarification.
