Need help with asset listing page

Hello,


I am having some problems getting the asset listing page to display a list of PDF files. I am new to this program and had been reading the user manualVol1 & 2 (v3.8.0a) and CMS manual version 3.6.1a.



I have tried these steps to get the listing displayed but to no avail:


  1. Created an asset listing page
  2. Edit Details screen
    • Status: Changed status to live
    • Asset Selection: Asset type to list -> PDF file; asset status to list -> live
    • Asset Location: Root node -> changed to asset id of root node


  3. Page Contents -> Edit Contents -> in the ‘select keyword’ drop down, have %asset_listing% selected



    Have also allocated appropriate permissions; but there are no listing displayed when I tried previewing the page. Am I doing something wrong or missing steps in between?



    In addition, I understand that the related asset listing page is used with tagging and thesaurus purposes but am unsure how to go about it? What are the differences between asset listing page and related asset listing page? Are there any differences if I set tagging for the asset listing page instead of related asset listing page? Am a little lost in this…



    On the User Manual Vol1_3.8.0a - Chapter 6, it is stated “the related asset listing page is described in the CMS manual”; however, in the CMS manual I could not find any further information on it?



    Was also wondering if there is a step-by-step guide to refer to besides the manual?

Hi lynna,


You will need to edit the "Type Formats -> Default Format" bodycopy. This bodycopy is printed for each asset in the listing.



I am not sure how related asset listing page works so I will not be able to answer the rest of the questions.

Related Asset Listings are trickier: They need to be embedded into the design or via a paint layout to work correctly (as you want the Current Root Node to be the current asset because you want to find assets Related to the current asset).



Essentially, the process is as follows:


  1. Create a thesaurus of keywords
  2. Use the Tagging screen of each asset to apply keywords from the thesaurus to each asset
  3. Create a Related Asset Listing page with a Dynamic Root Node of "Current Asset"
  4. Embed this Related Asset Listing into a Nested Content design area in your design



    Then, as you display each page, the nested Related Asset listing will display a list of other assets that have the same thesaurus keyword(s) applied.
