Due to lots of people having problems with installing Matrix in chrooted environments (eg on Ensim or CPanel) the web-installer has been changed to create more friendly symlinks. The old installer symlinked a directory to the matrix web root. Now, an index.php inside the nominated directory is symlinked to the matrix web root. This also keeps any symbolic links outside your matrix installation.
However, this is not going to be a final solution. It seems that due to the way php and apache operate in this environment, people will still have problems with permissions. We're trying to work through them on our end, and are grateful for any input you guys can provide about what you've found to work.
Hello,
The previous install version worked fine until error "Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: pear_registry in …versioncheck.inc on line 281". I think this occured at step 7 or so.
Using the new installer the installation procedure stops after the step 3 - a blank page shows up. I tried using different browser but the result is the same.
Any suggestions ?
Gregory
After you entered the system root value? Strange, no code's changed in that step. Have you changed permissions on the correct folders underneath that directory?
Cache and Data folders are set to 777. Today I deleted both the previous installer and matrix files, re-uploaded everything again, tried to re-install but no changes to better - the installing procedure stopped after Step 3. All I can see is blank browser window.
