Paint layouts on Multiple Page assets

I have a Multiple Page with several Multiple Page Pages inside it, and I have a paint layout which has type formats defined for both the Multiple Page and Multiple Page Page assets types. Both are outputting different keywords, etc.


However, I cannot get the paint layout type format for Multiple Page to load when I preview it directly. The layout for Multiple Page Pages works perfectly.



Ie.

Url for Multiple Page = http://www.blah.com/page (paint layout doesn’t work)

Url for Multiple Page Page = http://www.blah.com/page etc (paint layout works)



I have the paint layout applied at the Multiple Page, cascading downwards.



Any idea? Is this not working because Multiple Page assets are ‘special’ somehow?

Yes: It always uses the Multiple Page Page layout, even on the base (Multiple Page) URL. Which annoys the crap out of me, because it means I can't do fun things on the "title" page, as the painting asset actually switches to the first Multiple Page Page.
