Passing a url to remote content asset

Is it possible to pass a url as a http parameter to be used by a remote content asset as it’s remote url ?

For example: http://www.myserver.com/remotecontentasset?url=http://www.google.com

Any help would be appreciated

You can't do that…

…unless you encode the URL in the same way the remote content page does and you ensure that URL is in your whitelist.

So if this is a one-off, or a manual process, you can determine the correct encoding by pointing a remote content page at that URL. If you have a lot of URLs and you just want to throw them at a remote content page via a listing or something, you might be out of luck.

What is the reasoning behind encoding the url for remote content pages?

Additional security. The URL encoding is only security through obscurity really, but that is also needed at times. The White List is where the real security is.

Might be good to be able to choose the encode the url or not as an option

It could certainly be added as an option.

feature request?

Yep.
