Hello
We recently launched our Matrix powered Intranet (version 3.14.0).
Since launch, the DBA thinks that the amount of postgres transactions per second is very high, this is clocking in at around 120 transactions per second (7.5 million transactions since last Friday).
Is this normal behaviour or do we have something configured incorrectly?
How busy is your website? Matrix can make anywhere from one hundred to several hundred queries per page load, but most of those are SELECT queries that wouldn't open a true transaction. If you're concerned about your PostgreSQL configuration, you may want to open a support request with our system administration team.
Hi Avi
We are running two Intranets with Matrix (we are are hospital with two campus' catering for different demographics).
All up we have around 2,200 unique users a day and around 50,000 page views per day so it isnt massive traffic.
Does the amount of transactions seem high for this amount of traffic?

Don't forget backend traffic – how many editors/authors do you have using the site?
Do you have any reverse caching software? If your content is mostly accessed by the Public User (i.e. non-authenticated), you could look at putting Squid in front of Matrix to offload processing. If Matrix is generating the page for every request, then those numbers seem about right.
